Pork BBQ Plate - Ole Carolina BBQ
For three generations, the Morris family have been smoking BBQ in North Carolina. 36 years ago, David Morris started Country BBQ in Gastonia, NC and along with his three sons, Wesley, Mark, and Norman, he produced some of the Carolinas finest BBQ. Today, Mark and Wesley Morris as well as Wesley’s sons, Tyler and Matt run Ole Carolina BBQ in Gastonia, still using David’s famous sauce. One of their great dishes is the Pork BBQ Plate.
The first thing you notice about the Small Pork BBQ Plate at Ole Carolina BBQ is that its not that small. Its main item is of course, pulled pork BBQ that is slow-roasted over hickory smoke. The meat is very tender and juicy with no excess fat. The pork is highlighted by Ole Carolina BBQ’s original Western North Carolina BBQ Sauce. This BBQ sauce is not lathered on through the pork but thick drizzled on top, right through the center of the meat and provides a nice kick. This leaves some of the pork un-sauced allowing you to taste the pork on its own or to get a side of Ole Carolina’s Eastern NC BBQ sauce to dip the pork in. The pulled pork is accompanied by thick-cut steak fries, wonderfully moist hush puppies and Carolina cole slaw that is creamy and tangy.
